Wilmington, DE/Garnet Valley, PA

Population: 72826
Wilmington is the largest city in the State of Delaware, United States and is located at the confluence of the Christina River and Brandywine Creek, near where the Christina flows into the Delaware River. It is the county seat of New Castle County and one of the major cities in the Delaware Valley metropolitan area. Wilmington was named by Proprietor Thomas Penn for his friend Spencer Compton, Earl of Wilmington, who was prime minister in the reign of George II of Great Britain. Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania was founded in late 2006. The Garnet Valley name was created for residents of Bethel Township and Concord Township who are within the 19061 zip code to distinguish themselves from residents of Upper Chichester Township. The reasoning for this is that residents of Bethel Township and Concord Township are a part of the Garnet Valley School District and the residents of Chichester, Pennsylvania (19061) are a part of Chichester School District (including the historic town of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania).
